Forth Canoe Club
Paddling in the heart of Edinburgh
Welcome
Welcome to Forth Canoe Club. We're a local, open, active and friendly kayaking / canoeing club, right in the heart of Edinburgh. We hope to welcome you to paddling with us soon.
Our website provides all you need to know to get involved. You might be a complete beginner (perhaps not even able to say which end of a boat is which). You might even be a bit scared? Please don't let that get in the way. You might be an experienced adventurous paddler, already involved in a specific discipline or keen to compete. You are a most welcome member too.
Complete beginners might find the easiest way to get started is at one of our "open nights" - usually held on the first Thursday of every month.
Any Questions, Get in touch or visit the FAQ
You can also add the club calendar to yours so you never miss a session. You can also see when we are "busy" if you like a bit of quiet when you paddle.
Where to start
Here are a few useful details:
This map marks our clubhouse on Edinburgh's Union Canal, where many activities take place.
Children need to be 8 or older to join a children's class or to paddle in a one-person boat. Children under 8 can come to an open night, paddling together with a supervising adult in an "open canoe"
Young people under 16 must be supervised by an accompanying adult at open nights.
If you are an absolute beginner a class or open night is a perfect starting point
Information about our classes is on the activities page.
Seasoned paddlers should find what they need to know in the activities section of this site.
